This is so moving Anna. I too know that feeling of astonishment of how did we get here??? And it’s so important to reflect and look back, otherwise so much is lost. If we don’t have our memories, what do we have? Interesting their birthdays are a few days apart. I was born on my brother’s birthday, two years apart. Apparently we are Irish twins. I only learnt that term recently. It made us so much closer growing up - a real bond. I get a sense your kids have that too xx
Thank you. How funny about you and your brother. Yes, they are close. It is lovely to see. Especially when there were times when they were younger when Little Bro irritated the hell out of his older sister ! xx
My baby boy (eleven years old...) has his biscuit-smelling head on my lap right now, nose in a book, and I am soaking in the magic of it. I know that one day will be the final head-on-lap day, and I won't be aware of it.
It's so nice to see that somebody else really gets the whole umbilical cord business! Yes, babies shedding their mothers... ugh, my heart. I appreciate your words.
The shift from "what will I do with a boy?" to "what did I ever do without this boy?" is a wild one!
Wild indeed! ❤️

How funny, I'm currently staying with my brother & family. My 2 nephews were born on the same day - I can now tell them they're Irish twins!
That is funny! I wonder how common it is. My daughter would never have forgiven me if she had had to share her actual birthday. 😂
Reading this makes me want to squeeze my boys a little tighter. (I can totally relate to the 'what the hell do I do with a boy' sentiment!)
I realised the answer was in the squeeze! They just need love. xx
As the mother of two young boys, I feel equally bewildered by girls, even though I was once one myself. Thank you for this.
Thank you for reading! (My daughter often baffles me too…)

Aaah that biscuit smell!! 😍😍
Beautiful - brought a tear to my eye thinking of them! And they may well be reading this!
Thank you! (I doubt it 😂)
